The fwcutter package, once I finally got it, unfortunately was looking for a website that no longer existed. Surely they'll have it patched in the next version, but in the meantime, that did the trick :-)

Essentially the problem was that while it installed the driver, it needed firmware for the thing to make it run, and of course debian's not gonna put on a non-free item even if it's ultra-critical ;-) But wow -- wireless and a gui on a PPC Debian install... will wonders never cease!

Finally! X.Org on the 12" Powerbook w/ Debian

Here's the Xorg.conf file -- all that /etc/init.d stuff was driving me nuts after awhile ;-) The trick, outside of commenting out the DRI whatnot, was the setting of the usefbdev from true to false!
